Autumn in Bloom

Autumn in Bloom

late thunderstorms roll
summer in final countdown
clouds break, black as coal

soft windchimes tinkle
snapdragons wilted from sun
embrace the sprinkle

leaves of gold and brown
treasured summer memories
scatter on the ground

fading light of day
the sun drops to blissful sleep
change is on the way

there’s no need for gloom
as summer fades to a dream
for autumn’s in bloom

Just a quick write for this week’s challenge! Today we went to the Bluemont Fair, and even though it was a beautiful day, it was extremely hot in the sun. We walked through the vendor tables, saw the miniature train museum, had BBQ sandwiches and a glass of beer/wine while listening to a band that sounded just like The Allman Brothers. There were so many cool activities for children, we kept thinking that Posie and Hatcher would have loved it.

I don’t mean to complain about the heat so much (I am heat intolerant and always too warm no matter the season)….but I am just so ready for fall, and it is finally here TOMORROW – September 22! Woo hoo, I’m so happy and can’t wait to break out my sweaters and boots (if the weather ever decides to change, that is)! Some of our trees in Purcellville are already turning beautiful shades of orange and crimson. I need to get out there soon and take some photos with my good Nikon camera. I just ordered a new iPhone 16, which will be arriving this week. I am hoping for better pictures than my current phone. Instead of trying to transfer everything  from my old phone, I will just take it to the AT&T store and have them do it for me. I’m not up for technical challenges this week – I get enough of those at work, LOL.

Hope you all have a great weekend, and I hope you enjoy the start of this beautiful fall season!

Xoxo,
Colleen

Beautiful imagery here, dollface. I sure wish it felt, or even looked, like Fall here – it’s supposed to be 101 Monday and Tuesday :/ But I can always come back here to your words and just imagine what Fall looks like.

  2. Happy Autumn! Ah, sadly we don’t have beautiful seasonal changes here on Mars, so I shall live vicariously through your poems, HA! KUDOS Dear Earthling! ❤
