About Me

Colleen Keller Breuning
Poet & Photographer

Hello there, and welcome to my blog!  My name is Colleen Keller Breuning. I am a wife, mother of two adult children and two kitties, and grandmother of an adorable little girl and boy. I work as a Tax Paraprofessional for Yount, Hyde & Barbour CPA Firm in Winchester, VA. I was the Director of Human Resources & Business Operations at Loudoun Free Clinic in Leesburg, Virgina for over 8 years.

I first landed at WordPress in the fall of 2010, a refugee from Myspace looking for a place to blog.  You can also find me on Facebook and Twitter.  I am a photographer and writer, mostly of poetry and short stories.  I participate with an awesome writing group, Blogophilia.  I published my first book of poetry, “Shadows of My Father” in November 2011, dedicated to the memory of my father.  It is available on Amazon by clicking the link below:

I am currently working on a Book of Sonnets, hopefully for release later in 2022. I also am the editor and owner of the e-zine “Blue Turtle Crossing.”  This  website was published back in 2004 to showcase poets and photographers around the world.  Although I have been too busy to keep it current, it is something I hope to return to when/if I ever get to retire! In addition to poetry and photography, I love exercise, nature, sunsets, cats, music, reading, chocolate, red wine and travel…. though not necessarily in that order.  Thanks for visiting, and come back soon!

I have placed your book on the TOP of my Christmas list. I enjoyed the news letter you wrote at work many years agao so I am looking forward to this book. I lost my Father in 1999 and have never really found peace in that empty place within me. The poem that started this book really touch that place within me in the warmest way. Thank you…. 2. Wow thank you so much Karen! That truly means a lot. I really enjoyed writing those work newsletters back in the day, who knew it would lead me to this! I am sorry you lost your Dad, I don’t think that pain ever goes away. Thank you for taking the time and reading. Wishing you much joy, love & happiness, Karen!
