Into Clouds of Lions and Tigers

Into Clouds of Lions and Tigers

I lay
there alone
in the dark night
waiting for repose
my restless mind wanders
I’d be lying to myself
if I said I didn’t miss you
the sound of your voice, your amber eyes
thoughts and memories tumble through my head
then I’m flying high, light as helium
soaring across cornflower blue skies
searching for your gentle spirit
I’m freefalling into sleep
sinking into clouds of
lions and tigers
where I shall rest
and you’ll be
in my

Dreams of the Rainbow Bridge

Dreams of the Rainbow Bridge

Somewhere far over the rainbow,
beyond the mountains and seas,
there is a place of peace and beauty
where the cats and dogs run free.

My dreams have been invaded,
colored by memories so sweet.
I saw you running in the distance;
my heart skipped several beats.

I tried to shout, mouth frozen,
no sound escaping my lungs.
It’s impossible to think or speak
when the cat’s got your tongue.

Somehow you sensed my presence,
running, leaping up into my arms.
And just like before, I held you tight
to protect you from life’s harms.

Hearts glowing with endless love,
we sang and danced in the rain,
glad you were whole once more,
beautiful and free from all pain.

Then your image began to fade,
as dawn broke, the sun bursting anew.
So I’ll hold on tight, waiting again for night,
dreams of the Rainbow Bridge and you.

Shiny Unhappy People

Shiny Unhappy People
People shine bright, all colors of the rainbow…
Some are golden, born to sweet delight,
Ivory and ebony, lightness and dark,
Some are indigo, born to endless night.
When it comes to one’s true feelings,
Floccinaucinihilipilification is verboten.
Keep your mouth closed when in doubt,
Keep your opinions away from emotions.
Don’t judge me by my current state of mind,
Don’t try to change how I feel, think or hear.
Excessive sorrow laughs on the saddest day,
Excessive joy weeps with sentimental tears.
Just let me rage at those threatening skies,
Let me wallow into the depths of sorrow.
Though it seems to you my world is shattered,
I resolve to pick up the pieces tomorrow.
I shall rise to greet the sun’s beckoning light,
Though the sunset of my youth is fading fast.
Cherishing each moment, both happy and sad,
Shining bright, loving hard until the very last.
