I Am the Lotus

take me to a place
where time is an illusion
and love is in bloom

birdsong in oak tree
scent of lilac fills my head
cold dew upon grass

soft lips of velvet
I will always remember
scent of rose petals

I am the lotus
opening up for the sun
craving your warm kiss

let your light shine down
wash me with serenity
endless summer bliss

In the Shallows

No
promise
is ever
unbreakable
hollow words echoed
cutting deep as a knife
I struggled against darkness
haunting voices of the afreet
inner demons taunting, pushing me
beyond the rocky shore, torn and tattered
I was drowning in the shallows of life
angry clouds parted as the storm ebbed
on my knees, I crawled to the light
spilling warmth on my cold skin
your spirit touching mine
I had found new faith
you healed my heart
held me safe
in your
arms

Downstream

down by the water
I ponder meaning of life
lay my burden down

blue trail of sorrow
heart drops like a sinking stone
clear to the bottom

gravity defied
as I float downstream
in gentle river

washed ashore, breathless,

as a new dawn breaks

Black Swan

Black Swan

See her glide across liquid fields of blue,
The shape of water morphing in her tracks.
Through dappled clouds, bright rays of light shine through
As dewdrops glisten on her feathered back.

Dark silhouette, epitome of grace, 
She shadow dances from dusk until dawn.
A sweet ballet, accolades to embrace:
Proud moments in the life of a black swan. 

But seasons in the sun fade too quickly;
Youth and beauty were never meant to last.
Your essence lingers in my memory,
Until the final curtain call is cast.

Good night darling, in morning may you wake
From golden slumbers on this pristine lake.

I wrote this Shakespearean sonnet after being inspired by the beautiful Swan Lake Theme by Tchaikovsy. This musical piece brings back such wonderful childhood memories of listening to vinyl records with my Dad and my Mom …. we all loved Tchaikovsky music!! Where does the time go? *happy tears*
