Downstream

down by the water
I ponder meaning of life
lay my burden down

blue trail of sorrow
heart drops like a sinking stone
clear to the bottom

gravity defied
as I float downstream
in gentle river

washed ashore, breathless,
hands reach out in grateful skies
as a new dawn breaks
