Red Queen

Red Queen

my
white knight
rescued me
one fateful night
unshackled my chains
released me from my pain
and bathed me in healing light
we danced across the galaxy
jumping clouds to stars in blue twilight
we were forever young, forever free
it was a love for all eternity
winter came, cold winds began to blow
our spirits cloaked in crystal snow
but strong bonds cannot sever
nor will we surrender
I love you always
and forever
I have been
your red
queen

This is my belated Valentine poem to my husband Dan for 2025. We just celebrated our 37th Wedding Anniversary, very quietly at home this past Thursday. It was a very crazy work day, but my “love language” is cooking for him. So I put on our favorite chill music, and made him a delicious dinner of  pan seared pork chops with sauteed apples, homemade mashed sour cream potatoes and roasted green beans. It was very unexpected treat after a long workday, but wonderful to celebrate in our own way together at home.

I’m beyond grateful for our enduring, endearing love. He came to me at a point in my life that was SO dire and dark, when my soul was completely shattered, and he literally lit up my entire life! He makes me laugh, knows how to pick me up when I’m down, and showers me with his kindness and generosity. I am very blessed, as we have a tight bond of trust and constant, calming love for each other that I’ve never experienced in my life. It is just amazing and so special. I can never thank him enough for being in my life. I love you, Dan! Yours forever…. Xoxo
