She looks up to the twilight skies,
Pure joy glimmers in her brown eyes.
Soft silver light, a warm embrace,
Glow of the moon upon her face.
He, with a hint of mischief bright,
Dances beneath the velvet night.
Beneath the stars, he runs a race,
Glow of the moon upon his face.
They chase gold fireflies through the dew,
And dream about the clouds all blue.
Their laughter fills the open space,
Glow of the moon upon their face.
She looks up to the twilight skies,
Glow of the moon upon her face.

Good Saturday Morning! I am in a state of serendipity now. The past two days have been so delightful, as my grandkids Posie and Hatcher are here for the weekend!
We had a fun day yesterday, took a day trip into Washington, DC where we had lunch at The Old Ebbitt Grill, and then walked along mall over to the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History. They enjoyed the dinosaur and mammal exhibits, and seeing the huge elephant in the majestic rotunda. Posie’s favorite was the Mummy exhibit, and of course, Hatcher’s favorite were the skeletons! They got a sweet treat from the food trucks on Constitution Avenue afterwards, and we took a rest on benches outside the empty Department of Commerce building. We watched the police and fire engines blockade a long stretch of 15th Street, which is adjacent to the Treasury building and White House. We fully expected to see a motorcade, but nothing happened other than a police officer redirecting the traffic. Finally, we walked over to the White House front area and took pictures. Naturally, there were a few peaceful protestors with signs, and there was also a Trump impersonator. So many sights to see there, never a dull moment!
DC is my ABSOLUTE favorite city on the planet, it brings back so many childhood memories, and memories from the 1980s when I worked on K Street and 17th Street at Arthur Andersen. I used to take the commuter train into Union Station, or catch the Metro subway in from Shady Grove in Gaithersburg. It was a tough daily commute especially in snowy weather, but once there, I enjoyed being in the city, dining and happy hours with coworkers at lovely restaurants, and shopping in the boutiques on lunch break. I worked just two blocks from the White House on K Street, and many times I would see President Reagan’s motorcade come through, with lots of sirens, police and blocked streets. It was an exciting experience, so when I return to DC, I am always thinking about that time of my life and am eager to share places and memories!
Have a great weekend, all!
Xoxo
