Teddy Bear Tea
They scamper in on dappled light,
Giggles adrift on morning bright.
Tiny feet thump on wooden stairs…
Their laughter echoes everywhere.
Teddies propped in dainty array,
China teacups in grandchild play.
Spoons clink, cake crumbs float through the air…
Their laughter echoes everywhere.
Now time drifts on, and I must face
The sound of silence in this place.
I close my eyes in hollow prayer…
Their laughter echoes everywhere.
They scamper in on dappled light…
Their laughter echoes everywhere.

Happy Saturday! I knew when I saw this prompt that it would be about my grandchildren Posie and Hatcher. They both love to have tea parties with their stuffies, and Posie just received a china tea set last Christmas from Santa Claus. Though I haven’t been down for a visit since Thanksgiving, I am sure when we travel there in August a tea party will be on the agenda!
And speaking of grandchildren, we recently found out that our newest grandbaby on the way around Thanksgiving is a BOY! Wow – that will make ONE granddaughter and THREE grandsons! This baby will be so loved, and Posie is already practicing her mothering skills with her Bitty Baby that I gifted her (and also with her baby girl cousin). It is so sweet to see – she is exactly like Katie in that way. I remember young Katie dressing up in my clothes and holding her baby dolls close, whispering sweetly in their ears, comforting just like a mama!
Last Saturday we celebrated Mother’s Day at Mom’s house with my sister Sarah and her family. We just ordered in pizzas and spent the afternoon chatting. Mom is doing very well, other than minor medical issues like arthritis and neuropathy. Her mind is still very sharp, and she was in such good spirits! We always have a fun time gathering, and we ended the day taking a few pictures and cracking up over some of the funny faces Mom makes every time we try to get a family photograph. We were literally crying from LOL so hard – she is such a good sport, I must say. I love her so much! My Mother’s Day was very low key. I FaceTimed with my both kids and grandkids, and Dan picked up Thai food for me (so delicious). At the end of the day, my heart was full of joy and love. I am so blessed. Life is so good, and I am eternally grateful for the blessings. I hope everyone had a nice Mother’s Day!
Xoxo,
Colleen
