Saturday Rain

Saturday Rain

The sky rains down melancholy,
The vagrant sun won’t shine for me.
My mood is somber, black as coal
Deep in the corners of my soul.

I try to chase away the blues
And don my Judy Garland shoes.
Their sparkling light trails red and gold,
Deep in the corners of my soul.

I tilt my eyes to clouds of gray,
Embrace the rainy Saturday.
The rain cleanses me, makes me whole,
Deep in the corners of my soul.

There’s a touch of melancholy
Deep in the corners of my soul.

Hi! Happy Saturday, Happy Flag Day, Happy Father’s Day! I hope your weekend is off to a good start. Unfortunately it looks like the weather isn’t going to cooperate, and it will be another gloomy weekend – once again. I’m starting to sound like a broken record in this blog. This is probably the rainiest start to summer we have had since moving to Virginia in 2012. I don’t mind rain, but it seems like it’s sunny all week while we are working – then thunderstorms and rain all weekend long. So yeah, I am human and feeling a little gloomy. Add that to another Father’s Day without Dad, 23 years and counting. I have an impending big birthday next week that catapults me into a whole new age category, LOL.

But it’s all good. I’ll be fine. In fact, I am doing great for my age! I just desperately need a vacation, as I have only taken one day off all year long. I got to chat on the phone with my BFF yesterday, and that ALWAYS helps. We’ve been friends since we were five years old, she’s been my rock all of my life, and she lives in Florida now. I miss her tremendously, but we do have a trip planned for August, and we’ll stop over for a night to visit, have dinner and chat until the early morning hours. I’m looking forward to that, as we have not done anything since Thanksgiving as far as travel or vacations. What Dan and I really need is a beach trip, but it doesn’t look like that will be in the cards this year. One of these days, though!

That’s all I’ve got – send a little sun my way if you can LOL. Have a great weekend and Happy Father’s Day, family & friends!

Xoxo, Colleen
