Date Night in Toledo

Date Night in Toledo

Leaping Lizards, what’s in the air?
It’s Friday night, I’ve got a date.
Gotta shave my legs and wash my hair –
Time is ticking, I can’t be late.

Holy Toledo, the doorbell rings!
I fix my lips and run downstairs.
I open the door, and my heart sings,
He’s damn handsome and debonair.

Jiminy Cricket, bless his heart!
He presents me with a rose bouquet.
His eyes light up like the North Star,
Welcome sight after a hellion day.

Heavens to Betsy, check out his car!
Sleek and red, with engine that slays.
His dream machine will take us far
To the shorelines of Maumee Bay.

Goodness gracious, my heart’s aflutter!
As we walk together hand in hand.
He sings a tune, smooth as butter,
As we dig our toes into the sand.

Great balls of fire, he steals a kiss!
As the moonlight shines from above,
We slow dance, in a state of bliss….
I think I’m falling deep in love.

Hi!!!!! Happy Friday Night! This is a total whimsical write, inspired mostly by that funny frog picture with the lipstick lol! I just decided to let loose and write a silly love poem using interjections in the first line of each stanza, just for fun. This is most certainly not my best write, but it was kinda fun and really all I could up with, given the prompts that were a little whacky!

It’s a great thing, feeling a little lighthearted and silly after a couple of busy work weeks. Sometimes it’s just good to let loose and not be too serious about things. It’s just my mood for today. And by the way…. I have never been to Toledo! I actually had to look on a map to see what lakes and bays were nearby. I learned a bit about the Great Lakes in the area, and that it’s probably not a great idea to swim in Lake Michigan most of the time. Of course, I am one of those people who’s a bit freaked out about lakes anyway – after watching too many horror movies like Friday the 13th and others. I just don’t like the fact that you can’t see your feet on the bottom of a lake – or how squishy and unstable it feels! Give me a crystal clear ocean with soft sand that I can see my feet on the bottom, hands down! 🙂 That’s all I’ve got. Have a great weekend!

Xoxo,
Colleen

  1. HA! Nicely done, picturing that young lady getting ready for the date and then Mr. Debonair showing up in his sporty red car. Fun poem this week, KUDOS Dear Earthling! ❤
