Love Among the Sunflowers
We walk through fields of golden light,
The sunbeams kiss the blooms so bright.
A sea of yellow, heart’s delight…
Your hand in mine, the world feels right.
Sunflowers sway in gentle breeze,
A dance that puts our hearts at ease.
We frolic in purple twilight…
Your hand in mine, the world feels right.
Now comes a cool and gentle rain,
Soft petals sway in sweet refrain.
Oh darling, hold me through the night…
Your hand in mine, the world feels right.
We walk through fields of golden light.
Your hand in mine, the world feels right.

Happy Saturday! I hope your weekend is off to a good start. Tomorrow is my beautiful grandson Anthony’s FIRST BIRTHDAY! I’m so excited we are going down to Florida to celebrate his birthday, and also my son Vince’s 40th birthday! And just in time – Ant is just starting to walk, so it will be a lot of fun. After that, we’ll stop overnight in central Florida to visit my BFF Marianne and then travel up to the panhandle to spend the rest of the vacation with my daughter and my other two little nuggets, Posie and Hatcher. I miss them all so much, and I cannot wait to love on them!
This Kyrielle Sonnet was pretty much inspired by sunflowers. When I was a young child, yellow was my favorite color. I think I love it because it reminded me of the warmth of summer. I have so many wonderful childhood memories, most of them about our summer escapades. Even though. yellow is not my favorite color anymore (I tend to love all shades of blue and purple), I do love sunflowers. They are probably the boldest, most cheerful flower of all! They just seem to emanate joy and warmth. I actually googled it, and sunflowers do symbolize happiness, longevity and loyalty – which in retrospect, fits the theme of my poem. This poem just kind of evolved over the last two days to portray an enduring, joyful relationship that is timeless. I am very blessed and grateful to be married to Dan, and our relationship encompasses these important qualities.
Enjoy your weekend, family and friends! ❤
Xoxo,
Colleen
