Too Good to Be True

Too Good to Be True

I bask in cherished memories,
Feeling light as a summer breeze.
My heart soars when I think of you,
Our love is too good to be true.

You take my hand, we fly so high,
Sparkly bright, diamonds in the sky.
Warm as a crystal sea of blue,
Our love is too good to be true.

You lift me up when I am down,
Set my feet firmly on the ground.
Each day we rise, our vows anew.
Our love is too good to be true.

I bask in cherished memories,
Our love is too good to be true.

Happy Saturday! This is an off the cuff sonnet that took me less than 30 minutes to write. I can’t believe I wasn’t able to fit the prompt phrase into my poem – but I did so in this sentence, so that counts LOL! I had first started this Kyrielle Sonnet with a line using the phrase, then ended up scratching it. That’s kind of how the writing process goes. 🙂

It’s been such a busy month – August is supposed to be my slow month at work, it was anything BUT that. I was exhausted by last night, after working LONG hours all week long.  But the big project I had been working on is finished (for the time being anyhow). I let myself sleep in this morning and felt so rested this morning. I know September is going to be busy as well. I had signed up at the beginning of the year to be the host of a Daily Writing Challenge with a group of writers that originated at Myspace back in 2007 or 2008. I had NO IDEA how busy I was going to be. I have the challenge ready to go, but I am a little worried about keeping up with the writers on a daily basis. I will do my best, that is all that can be done. Life is not perfect!

Wishing you all a Happy Labor Day weekend! Today I’m doing catchup stuff, baking something to take to my sister’s cookout tomorrow, and hopefully hitting the pool or just chilling the rest of the weekend. ❤

Xoxo
