First of October
first of October
white puffy clouds float in sky
tangled up in blue
golden sun rises
taste of Indian Summer
killing frost has passed
maples blush crimson
oak leaves morph green to ochre
dew reflects sunshine
caress of crisp breeze
spice aromas infuse air
beckoning me home
hummingbirds fly south
long journey to warmer climes
replaced by white geese
soft wind chimes tinkle
signaling change of seasons
welcome to autumn

Happy Saturday! It’s hard to believe September is coming to an end! The month seemed to fly by – and I didn’t think it would. I’ve been hosting the Keep It Simple September (KISS) Writing challenge for our writing group, and I thought it would be impossible to keep up. But so far I’ve been managing it fairly well. It has been a joy reading everyone and seeing the camaraderie in this amazing group. I hope that I can keep up with some of them in the coming months!
I’ve always loved the month of October – it’s when autumn really seems to hit, in terms of weather and activities. It is also my daughter Katie’s birthday on October 12 – she is turning 34! Wow! I’ve had my home decorated for autumn since Labor Day, so I’m ready. The only thing I have not done is put out some orange lights on the front porch, which I’m hoping to get to this weekend. That’s all I have for this week – have a lovely weekend, all!
Xoxo,
Colleen
