Serene Winterscape
abundance of white
angel kisses tumble down
on my windowpane
like winters of past
snow swirls round lampposts softly
in butterfly dance
from darkened night skies
barn owl keeps watch above still
guiding sentinel
a bone-chilling cold
January wind clamors
creek freezes over
sheltered from the storm
wrapped in a warm, soft cocoon
my sweet nirvana
dawn light lifts the veil
crystals scatter their fire cold
diamonds born from clouds
stark beauty abounds
bare trees frame snow-laden fields
serene winterscape

Hello! It has been a busy week, but I hit the ground running on my busy January work month. Today we set aside to go visit Mom, but I had not even wrapped her Christmas gifts! And we overslept, so I was running around like crazy trying to find and wrap all of her gifts. It was raining, we got caught behind a slow poke on the back roads, and finally made it to her house for a visit. It was very nice, chatting with Mom and hooking up a new wireless mouse & keyboard on her home computer. Then my brother Doug and his girlfriend stopped by and it was nice to visit with him as well!
On the way back home on our usual route, they had blocked the main road due to an accident, so we had to take some back roads in the dark to get home. It took a little longer with the added rain, but we finally got home around 7:30 pm. I wrote this poem on the fly, it’s actually been a little warm for January. I’m ready for a little snow, I know most people hate it but I do enjoy it if I don’t have to drive to work. Luckily for me, my job is very flexible and allows me to work from home as much as I need to, especially when it’s bad weather.
Have a great Sunday! Xoxo
Love,
Colleen
