Fandango

Fandango

Distant stars dance a pas de deux
in night skies of indigo blue.
Venus and Mars put on a show,
getting lost in the fandango.

Deep in our world of fantasy,
alone in the dark, you and me.
Kiss me soft with lips of merlot,
getting lost in the fandango.

Love is the keystone of the heart,
knowing that we will never part.
Hold me close in the afterglow,
getting lost in the fandango.

Distant stars dance a pas de deux,
getting lost in the fandango.

Hooray for February! No offense, January – but I am glad you are over! It was one of the busiest busy seasons ever, and it seemed like everything I touched had some kind of complication and nothing seemed easy. But I soldiered through it, knowing that by today, the long days and weekends working would be over.

I slept in this morning and allowed myself to be pleasantly awakened by the gentle morning sun rays. The cats lounged on the bedroom floor waiting for me to get up, but they were very patient with me. I lingered at the computer with morning coffee, then went to the hair salon. I also did a little Valentine’s Day shopping for the grandkids, stopped by my favorite boutique, and then went to the grocery store by myself. It was such a nice day, and I even cooked a fantastic teriyaki salmon, baked sweet potatoes and roasted asparagus for dinner this evening.

This is just a whimsical little ditty I wrote this morning, for today I feel lighter and more relaxed than I have for over three months! Just for today I let myself do whatever my heart desired, with no guilt and no expectations. Tomorrow, I will finally take down the Christmas tree, as it has now been up for over two months and it’s time. I literally had no extra time to do it in January, and that’s okay. It’s all about giving yourself grace, not beating yourself up for not being able to do something within a perceived or expected time period. I’m learning….finally! Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Xoxo, Colleen
