Thunderstruck
trouble is brewing
bolts of lightning pierce the heart
thunderstruck by life
standing on a bridge
gazing at the calm waters
one step to freedom
cold wind blows swiftly
snippets of a life well lived
looping through the mind
it’s never too late
to rechart the path, change course
of your life journey
who looks outside, dreams
but who looks inside, awakes
step back, take the wheel
hold tight through the storms
steep your soul in gratitude
for peace awaits you

Today it’s Saturday, and for the third weekend in a row, rain and storms are in the forecast. It’s hard to believe summer is only two weeks away. We were going to try to hit the pool, but it is going to be another weekend of just resting and working around the house – and that is okay!
This haiku series was written fairly quickly and inspired by the Carl Jung quote “Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside awakes.” I find this to be simple, yet so profound. I believe we have all had some type of awakening at some points in our life, whether it be a spiritual awakening or just finally coming to grips with reality and truth. We can look externally and dream all we want, but our lives will NOT change unless we look inside and figure out what we need to do to make our lives change. I know it’s not that simple, because it’s hard work and there is no guarantee. But if you take one day at a time and keep moving forward in the right direction, you’ll be amazed at how much better you feel. Sorry so deep – blame it on Carl, haha!
Hope you have a nice and sunny weekend – send the sun my way while you’re at it! 😀
Xoxo,
Colleen

Amazing haiku series with such truth, life is what you make it. Great Jung quote you chose – KUDOS Dear Earthling! ❤
