Rollercoaster

Rollercoaster

Life is like an amusement park:
Sometimes fun, and other times dark.
Keep moving forward with great stride,
Hold on tight and enjoy the ride.

Even on the sunniest days,
Bad news may rain from clouds of gray.
Just wait until the storm subsides;
Hold on tight and enjoy the ride.

Time speaks to us in passing years,
In whispers that you did not hear.
I’ll see you on the other side,
Hold on tight and enjoy the ride.

Life is like an amusement park,
Hold on tight and enjoy the ride.

Happy Saturday night! When I saw the prompts for this week, the phrase “life is like an amusement park” randomly popped into my head and became my theme for this week’s poem. I let that marinate for a few days. The phrase certainly does ring true, whether you are a new parent or an older person like me, in her 50th year of working for a living and wondering if retirement is even an option! There are so many ups and downs in life, that you learn to take things in stride, count your blessings  and be grateful for being alive today. And… know that tomorrow is another day, hopefully an even better one!

Currently we are in Florida celebrating our grandson Anthony’s first birthday, and we are so grateful for him! He is a joy to be with, just starting to walk, funny, smart and so charming.  He was super excited to see us – which absolutely warmed our hearts, since we have not seen him since last November. Vince is also turning 40, so we are celebrating that milestone as well (where did the time go?). After that, we will be heading northwest to the Florida panhandle for a visit with Posie and Hatcher, which is always a fun time! Can’t wait to snuggle with those sweet little nuggets.

Yes indeed, life is certainly like an amusement park… and I’m definitely enjoying the rollercoaster of being Nanny Bee.  It is by far the most thrilling, exhilarating ride I have EVER been on in my life.  Have a wonderful weekend!

Xoxo,
Colleen
