Imminent
Whir of cicadas
dead wings scatter in hot breeze
seventeen year plague
Golden sun blazes
sinking into purple hills
as days grow longer
Rumble of thunder
fireflies and lightning bolts flash
nimbus clouds breaking
Fingers grazing skin
heat blazes deep within me
summer imminent

Even though Blogophilia is on hiatus this summer, my plan is to keep writing, something – ANYTHING on a weekly basis. I almost caved in and let myself get lazy, but I always feel incomplete if I don’t download the week’s thoughts and emotions into some type of scribble scrabble….
Wishing everyone out there a Happy Father’s Day!!! This year (as in many years past), I share my birthday with Father’s Day. I was hoping that grandson Hatcher would be born this weekend (would be cool to share my birthday), but as of now it looks like he’s staying put. His due date is June 25, so anything could happen. We are anxiously waiting for the call and plan to hop in our car and start the drive to Florida once Katie goes into labor. I need to get packing NOW!!!! Happy Summer all! ❤
Always inspiring.
Happy early Birthday! Strangely we have had almost no cicadas this year. No idea why, but trying not to complain too loud
Beautiful words Colleen xo
I missed a lot. I’m glad you’ll keep on writing
I love how you hold onto angst, holding anxious moments at bay.
Oh, my… I think I have a poem started here… Thanks, Colleen!
