Welcome Home, Angel
I can’t believe the news today,
the light has dimmed, the skies turn gray.
Through sorrow’s tide, we stand alone—
Heaven welcomed an angel home.
The stars burn bright but do not speak,
their silence makes my spirit weak.
A solemn wind begins to moan—
Heaven welcomed an angel home.
Soft candlelight, a whispered prayer,
your laughter lingers in the air.
Though time moves on, our love has grown—
Heaven welcomed an angel home.
I can’t believe the news today,
Heaven welcomed an angel home.

Hope you are having a wonderful weekend, everyone. We are having a very windy day, the lights have been flickering and at one point our internet went down today. (Hmmm… didn’t this just happen last Saturday LOL?) After an afternoon lull, now the winds are back fiercer than ever! Welcome MARCH – maybe it’s coming in like an angry lion and will go out a gentle lamb? We shall see…
I started this poem a couple of weeks ago, upon hearing of the news of my high school classmate’s death. The death of my friend Teresa was pretty tragic, she collided into the back of a tractor trailer on I-81. We attended St. Mary’s together, were very close friends in middle school, and kind of drifted apart in high school, as we ran with different crowds. But I always admired her deep love for animals, and the fact that she spent a lot of her own money taking care of the feral cats at the City Park in my home town. It really shook me, especially to learn the news that her mother is still alive and has had to bury FOUR of her children. I cannot even imagine how devastating that must be for her.
It has been shocking, the frequency of death in our classmates. We have already lost 6 classmates just in the past 6 months, all will be dearly missed. And so now, we cry these tears to remember the good times, and pray for those loved ones left behind. It is a stark reminder that life is short, and that we must live our lives to the fullest. Love you all!
Xoxo,
Colleen
Inspiration: “Knocking on Heaven’s Door” by Bob Dylan

I am sorry to hear of the loss of your childhood friend. It is a difficult burden to bear, but you express your love eloquently. KUDOS to you, dear Earthling! ❤
