Paris Rain

Through the haze of sorrow and pain,
I’m drowning in the Paris rain.
The mood is black, a dim purview…
When all else fails, there’s always you.

On the cold steel Eiffel Tower,
Despair grows with every hour.
The gray clouds break, the sun shines through…

Gold sunrays warm the streets of France,
The bluebird sings, the people dance.
A rainbow shines from skies of blue…

Hello friends and family ~ I returned from my Florida trip at 1:30 am on Wednesday, so it has been a little bit of a hectic week! I had a wonderful and busy time with the grandkids, and we celebrated Katie with a small baby sprinkle for Holland James, with some of her close friends.

In my mind, I wrote that repeating line for the Kyrielle sonnet while I was in Florida. This trip was solo, as Dan stayed home and worked due to the September 15 tax deadline. I always miss him when we are apart, and that repeating line speaks such truth about him. No matter what is going on in life, no matter how badly I am feeling, no matter how hopeless things seem, he is always there beside me, loving and supporting me through it all. The sadness in the poem was an underlying feeling of malaise and sorrow in my soul this week – the Charlie Kirk assassination, memories of 9/11, and the general state of the world have been hitting hard. There just seems to be so much tragedy and pain, and we cannot let it consume us. I hope and pray for unity, and for better tomorrows.

I hope you hug your loved ones tight and always take time to make special memories with them!
