Invisible Child

ghosts
slither
gliding through
darkened hallways
I run for cover
and I chase the dim lights
cowering beneath white sheets
heart pumping blood through my cold veins
all nightmare long I chase my demons
struggling to open my eyes in the dark
but I can’t see my hands or feel my toes
I am just an invisible child
trapped within this haunted dollhouse
a place I shall dream no more
brain tumbles and spirals
begging the question
am I alive
or am I
one of
them

This is my Halloween write that I started last night and technically finished earlier today. I got busy with life and am posting this later on a Saturday night! I was definitely led astray by the prompts, especially the Metallica song titles lol.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Halloween, I had plenty of candy ready – but not a ton of trick or treaters! I did enjoy seeing some of the costumes, my favorite was a teen dressed as Patrick with a smaller sibling as Sponge Bob. I don’t know how that poor kid was managing to walk in the dark with that blow up costume on! But I sure gave him extra treats for that trick. 😀

And now it is November – yay, the holiday season is upon us!  Tonight we gain an hour of time tonight for Daylight Savings Time, which means an extra hour of sleep.  Unfortunately, that also means it will be getting dark an hour earlier. Boo! That is the one thing that I do not love about this time of year. So if it takes an act of Congress to make this happen, what the hell is taking so long? Oh yeah, that’s right – they’re too busy voting to keep the damn government shut down. Brilliant!
