Starlit Souls

Starlit Souls

time
stands still
flash frozen
twilight descends
the sun’s gold demise
reflections in our eyes
a hush drifts over the brim
the stadium lights flash and dim
a lone guitar beckons from afar
planets are moving at the speed of light
we rise to our feet in the deep of night
and dance under a sky full of stars
losing ourselves in the rhythm
melody morphs and portends
hand in hand, we take flight
shooting stars drift by
the night transcends
lighting up
our dark
souls

It’s Saturday night and I barely had time all week to get my write finished. I think the word “stadium” steered me in this direction. I was thinking back to the last time I actually saw a band outside in a true stadium. It was Paul McCartney on his “Out There” Tour on July 12, 2013 at the Nationals Park in Washington, DC. It was something I’ll never forget, being a huge Beatles and McCartney fan. We could not believe how great he sounded, and how much energy he had for a rocker of his age doing such a demanding tour. It was a wonderful concert ~ we made some great memories, and I finally got to see an artist I had only dreamed of seeing live.

This has been a extremely busy week, and I am trying to get all the Christmas things done in time before our trip to Florida. I had my tree decorated before Thanksgiving, but I haven’t done much else besides throwing some lights on the bushes in front of our front porch. I got my Christmas cards ordered early and updated my address list, but I still haven’t printed labels or mailed them out. I’ve done a lot of store and online shopping, but haven’t wrapped a single gift. I don’t know why I feel so discombobulated. I think it’s because we are going out of town to see all the grandkids, and I am feeling immense pressure to get everything done at work and home before we leave. I just don’t have enough hours in the day. Oh well, I have to make peace that what gets done is good enough. There’s only one me, and I am not a robot lol.

All I can do is take it one day at a time and learn to give myself a little grace. Hope your weekend is fantastic!

Xoxo,
Colleen
