luck
obscures
one’s true fate
beneath shadows
of a cloudy past
I was downtrodden, lost
in the stormy aftermath
fighting against relentless waves
sinking in cold Atlantic waters
deep within the Bermuda Triangle
you came to me, beacon of light and hope
and pulled me out of churning riptides
nursed my wounds, healed my shattered heart
cocooned in your arms I feel
forever treasured like
a shiny gold coin

good fortune
to find
you

Happy Saturday, friends and family! I hope you had a nice St. Patrick’s Day! ❤

The topic of ‘good fortune’ had me thinking about the journey of life, and how luck does not exactly determine our destiny. I believe that everything happens for a reason, despite our best efforts. If you look back on your path – you will find little sparkles of luck along the way that have enhanced your life. I also believe it is HOW you look at things, putting a positive spin on those dark thoughts, and finding the good in bad situations (hard as that is).

I don’t mean to get too deep, but I have indeed been blessed. Dan came into my life when I was at my very lowest point, feeling completely defeated and like I was drowning in quicksand. His love changed the trajectory of my life, as I had never experienced trust within a relationship, or being truly loved and treasured for just being ME. We have been through many joys, tears and challenges together, but it has never weakened the bond that we have. In fact, it’s done the opposite – it has strengthened us. So… as I look back on my past, I realize I found a shiny gold coin – HIM – that I will keep for all eternity.
