Postmarked Heaven
Last night I had a dream of my father,
bent over a page, pen in hand,
writing as the one who has watched me
all of my life, and still,
from just beyond sight.
Morning arrives with quiet and calm.
At the mailbox, mixed in with the bills,
a letter awaits me,
postmarked from heaven.
I open the letter and hear his voice again,
steady, familiar, proud.
He tells me I am doing fine,
that love always counts,
that what I give truly matters.
He says he has always been watching,
and that he never stopped.
I fold the letter with care,
hold his words close to my heart
and carry his message of affirmation
into the new day ahead,
with a smile.

Hi family and friends! Just a quick write this week about my Dad, who does frequently appear in my dreams. Of course, this is fictional – I would love to receive a letter from heaven from him! But I do believe that he’s been watching over me, as I get this weird sense of calm when I think of him. He was always watching over me while he was alive – in a very quiet, comforting way.
Sorry I’ve been very MIA for weeks, surfacing online just long enough for a quick write and post. Work has been super busy with the February 2 deadline looming. I’ve been processing W-2s and 1099’s, and will get right back to it now. Finally making some progress this week and seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.

Well, we are ready for Winter Storm “Fern,” but the forecast keeps changing every few hours. The winter storm warning is from 11 pm tonight (Saturday) until 4 am Monday. But first we were getting 2 feet, then 3-5 inches, now it could be up to 18 inches. I made a HUGE pot of homemade turkey noodle soup, simmering my Thanksgiving turkey bones and meat all day in a 20 quart stockpot. I ended up with a ton of soup! I decided to offer some to one of our neighbors, and it turned out they hadn’t eaten dinner yet. I was happy to share – I always cook for an army! I do have to admit it was pretty delicious, and very warming in this 12 degree weather!
I’ll keep you posted on the snowstorm – it’s hitting a big chunk of the country, apparently Dallas got slammed today. I sure hope we don’t lose power, as I need to keep working throughout the next 10 days to get everything done. Stay safe and warm, everyone! Xoxo
Love,
Colleen

Ah, lovely take on this week’s topic! A quiet reminder that our lost loved ones do watch over us. And…. how about sending some soup to this alien? It’s – 98 degrees tonight on Mars, HA! KUDOS Dear Earthling! ❤
