Sacred Sabbath

Sacred Sabbath

As rain lashed the darkness,
I woke to the sound of fear,
panic rising in my chest,
heart pounding in my ears.

Terror plays out in real time
horrific images across the news.
Twisted truths and hatred
spreading like an ugly bruise.

Did I miss something here,
did something go astray?
Evil reared its ugly head
on this sacred Sabbath day.

Anger tears me up inside
as desperate tears fall down.
Innocent victims executed,
innocent blood stains the ground.

History repeats itself
in this game of evil ping pong.
But even blind eyes can see
this battle will be hard and long.

Did I miss something here,
did something go astray?
Evil reared its ugly head
on this sacred Sabbath day.

Today, tomorrow, all humanity seems lost
Amidst the cries and screams.
Somewhere, somehow I hope that peace will reign
But is this just a foolish dream?

Did I miss something here,
did something go astray?
Evil reared its ugly head
on this sacred Sabbath day.

Dearest friends and family, my heart is aching for what is happening in the world right now. The Hamas attack is pure evil, and it is heartbreaking to see the horrific images and videos of what has transpired. Burned human bodies, beheaded babies, hostage taking… so gut wrenching, there are no words! And yes, I stand with Israel and I pray for ALL innocent lives lost. Hamas is evil and must be taken out! Period.

It is unnerving to see some of the politics playing out on the world stage. Israel has every right to defend its country against these barbaric attacks. I’m not going to get into the details, but the protests going on in our country, the wide-open border, etc…it is truly sickening. I’m not a conspiracy theorist, but I feel we are in imminent danger in the United States. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see that we have an extremely weak, corrupt government that has allowed this to happen, and that millions of unvetted illegals (some cartel members, Hamas, etc) have poured into our country and been shuttled by our own government to ALL parts of our country. I fear for the members of our armed forces who have been deployed, and I pray for their safety. Something has to change, and change fast, but it seems it is too late.

I’m angry and sad and outraged. I don’t want to watch the news, but I simply cannot ignore the evil that has transpired. Nor should you. It hurts the heart, but we can’t shut our eyes and pretend everything is hunky dory in our world. Because it is NOT. All I can do is pray and purge my emotions through the outlet that I know best… poetry. I love you all, and I wish you safety and peace!

Xoxo,
Colleen
