Fault Line of the Stars

Fault Line of the Stars

Tripping through summer twilight
in my lush forest yard.
They rise above the treetops,
all my beautiful stars.

The Milky Way is blooming,
morphing before my eyes.
Constellations on velvet,
pinpoints in the sky.

The North Star is my beacon,
my guardian sublime.
The shining light that guides me
until the end of time.

Gemini is calling me,
my heart is taking flight.
I rise above mortal clouds,
my tears dissolve the night.

A celestial embrace,
soft chorus from afar,
I dream of you forever
in the fault line of the stars.

Happy Saturday Evening – I am really late posting this week. We got back home from our trip at 1:30 am last Sunday morning. What a great trip to Florida with the grandchildren! Anthony turned one year old and is walking, Vince turned 40, and I created a collage photo, which he absolutely loved. Katie’s belly has popped with our fourth grandchild and their son Holland James, and our days with Posie and Hatcher were as fun as ever. We had lots of pool time, beach trips, dinners out, and lots of beautiful memories were made!

It’s Writer’s Choice Week, and you would think that would be simple. Sometimes being given a blank slate is harder, because the prompts often take you in an unexpected direction or think of subjects that normally wouldn’t cross your mind. I just discovered the music of Jacques Astor, hauntingly beautiful piano melodies that provide a lot of inspiration.

This week I turned my focus to the sky, one of my muses. I’ve always loved stargazing and studying about constellations, planets and galaxies. It is so fascinating to me. And the North Star has always been a source of comfort to me. It most definitely guides me, reminding me of my Dad. This week he would have been 91. He was like My North Star, looking over me with a warm light – quiet but always there. So Dad, when I look up at the sky and see you there – know that I miss you and love you with all my heart!

Xoxo, Colleen

  1. What a lovely poetic tribute! Stargazing is so calming and leaves one filled with wonder, except when Earth blocks my view of Venus, HA! Kudos Dear Earthling! ❤
