Weaver of Dreams

Weaver of Dreams

Night
danced past
crimson sun
amber moon smiled
I wheeled with the stars
in the indigo skies
my heart broke loose on the wind
carried forth my tears and sorrow
tonight I can write the saddest lines
as I climb the psychedelic rainbow
floating in warm hues of purple and gold
the night wind whirls in the sky and sings
its words touch my soul and calm me
stills the raging sea within
my fertile mind can rest
night is my haven
but my conscience
is weaver
of my
dreams

Hello ~ we were scheduled to arrive home from our Florida trip last night at 9 pm….but weather issues in Atlanta delayed our initial Palm Beach flight, and we sat on the runway for 45 minutes. When we finally were cleared for Atlanta, our connecting flight was delayed for 2.5 hours. We finally landed at Dulles around midnight, and eventually collected our bags at a crowded baggage claim. Why do they have FIVE flights unloading at one baggage carousel when there are FOURTEEN carousels in the airport??  Then we finally found our parking spot in the pouring rain and drove home. It was after 1:30 when we arrived home, but by the time we unloaded the car and a few essential items – I didn’t get to bed until 3:30 am. So much for our “earlier” flight haha – but we had a safe arrival, so that was the most important thing.

I had intended to write on the plane or in the airport – but it was so jam packed in Atlanta, noisy and not a good environment for writing, to say the least. Today was busy with laundry, groceries, playing with the cats (who were ECSTATIC and purring up a storm when we arrived home). Tonight I sat down and this poem just kind of flowed out, a stream of conscious double etheree inspired by perusing some famous Pablo Neruda lines. Gosh I do love his poetry, it’s passionate and colorful…really speaks to me. I wish I had more time to immerse myself in his work – and many other poets, as well. My current life just doesn’t permit that.

But our trip was WONDERFUL! Little Holland is a sweetheart, giggly and squealing at 6 months old. We got to attend Posie’s Kindergarten graduation and present her with flowers and a stuffed dog with a mortarboard. She got a “Best Behavior” award presented at the ceremony. We went to dinner the next night to celebrate with Katie and Brenton, had a beautiful beach day, swam in their pool and enjoyed just hanging out. Hatcher was thrilled we had lunch at Tom’s Hot Dogs. Then we traveled across the state to spend a few nights at Vince and Natalie’s. Anthony is almost 2 now, and has changed so much. He’s learned all the shapes, colors, letters, and really is a great sleeper (he no longer even naps). This trip filled up our hearts, being able to spend so much one on one time with each of the four grandkids. It always saddens me to have to leave…. they are so dear to us. I’m always so present with them that I don’t even post while I’m away. I’ll try to share some pics soon.

We’re hoping for a little sun here in Northern VA – it’s been pretty cold and rainy, not looking like a pool day is in the works for this holiday. Oh well, maybe next week. Hope you have a fantastic Memorial Day weekend! Xoxo

Love,
Colleen
