Seaside Rendezvous

Seaside Rendezvous

The sea is calling, time to take
A weekend trip, a summer break.
Cozy cottage, room with a view…
A seaside rendezvous with you.

Seashells adorn the bayside strand,
Foamy waves caress golden sand.
Coy seagulls dart in skies of blue…
A seaside rendezvous with you.

The briny breeze warms my cool skin,
Sweet kisses stir passion within.
Sunset ignites in crimson hues…
A seaside rendezvous with you.

The sea is calling, time to take
A seaside rendezvous with you.

Happy Saturday, all! It was a busy week, getting home on Sunday afternoon from our weekend trip, catching up on laundry and getting ready for the workweek.

It was another busy week, with client work and preparations for our annual Firm Day, which had a Rodeo theme. As Co-Chair of the Mental Health ERG at our firm for 4 years. My friend Curtis and I had the responsibility of speaking onstage about our mission and setting up a display table. That included a lot of creative work, and our ERG team really helped out.

I was also one of 20 finalists in the Firm Day challenge, where our team of 10 employees  competed another team of 10 employees. I was one of 5 relay runners who had to gallop on a Stick Pony around the ballroom and do triple bar jumps (in my real cowboy boots and hat). OY! I almost got tripped by my competitor trying to cut me off on the last jump, but I outran her, and we ended up winning that challenge. Then it was Pictionary, which I was a guesser (not the artist – she was great!). The grand finale of the competition was a Lip Synch Battle. Our team chose “Cotton Eye Joe” by Rednex, and Zach Reid and I did the lead vocal lip synch in sunglasses, cowboy hats and riding stick ponies while another guy played air fiddle, others line danced, and a retiring partner ran around the room waving his bandana, getting the crowd on their feet! It was legendary and so much fun – the audience got to vote and we won that challenge by a landslide. Our team “swept” all 3 challenges. As champions, we got to lift the trophy in front of 300 YHB employees. What a fun day that was!

Today we attended the Keller Family Reunion. It was great to see relatives, sit down and chat. It’s a little sad that the reunion has grown smaller, as we have lost so many aunts and uncles over the years. I hope we can continue, a younger generation has taken over and is working hard to keep things going.

Tomorrow the weather is looking stormy, so we will skip the pool and just catch up on chores around the house. I hope you have a lovely remainder of your weekend!

Xoxo,
Colleen
