Dreams Begin With Me

I pray my dreams will all come true,
To fly through skies of sapphire blue,
To trace the rivers winding low…
But only I can make it so.

I long to gather dawn in verse,
Where dreams and words I can rehearse,
Each stanza warmed by amber glow…
But only I can make it so.

The hours streak by much too fast,
Like Road Runner speeding past.
It’s time to reap the seeds I sow…
But only I can make it so.

I pray my dreams will all come true.

Hi everyone! Welp, this was a quickie write. I started writing it at the pool on my iphone, and I finished it later after we got home. It’s a short little Kyrielle Sonnet that basically confirms that if there is something you REALLY want to do or want to be – only YOU can do it! This can apply to everyday things or to your entire life. We have the power and freedom to choose and to pursue the path we want in life.

I have always dreamed of being a poet, and well… I guess I really am. I have been writing poetry since I was five years old, and that’s a lot different than having a “job” as a poet. I consider it more of an avocation or doing something I truly love. Everyone knows there’s no money in poetry LOL. I don’t write it for money or for fame, that’s for darn sure! I write SOLEY for ME. It is a part of who I am, it’s my way to express and release emotions, and get things off my chest. Sometimes it’s romantic, other times quite dark. If there is some kind of tragedy or hurt, I write about that too. And then I can turn around and write something that is pure whimsy and fantasy. That’s the beauty of writing in writing group challenges, that it sometimes has you falling down rabbit holes, taking you to places you would have never thought of.
