Lifeline
The veil of sadness
fell down upon me,
invoking dark shadows
and shades of melancholy.
Crimson tears trickle,
scarring and burning.
The world tilts and spins,
the pages of life keep turning.
The mind grows weary,
witness to brutal violence.
It longs for quiet sanctuary,
seeking justice and penance.
The lifeline has been cast out
into the sea of great sorrow.
Just hold on tight to the rope,
Until the sun rises tomorrow.

Oh Colleen! This truly brought a feeling of sadness. Still there lies hope at the end and sometimes hope is all we need.
Beautiful poem Colleen!!! (So sad though… *HUGS*)

I saw your comment on Peggy’s blog and so subscribed to yours too. I’ve set up shop here on WordPress as well as Blogspot. There’s things I like and dislike about both so I’ll keep both for now. One of the things I dislike about WordPress is like you said, it is quite daunting trying to learn to navigate through all of the settings and stuff. I’ve figured a few things out though. If you have any questions I can try and help.
Regarding the poem…..beautiful. 🙂
Hi Colleen, this one is one of your sadder poems…. but beautifully crafted. (((HUGGS)))
