Chapters

A chapter closed that cold November day
In shades of indigo, few words spoken.
My heart was crushed, with nothing left to say…
Tears in the ocean, my world was broken.

As time ticked slowly under clouds of gray,
Your voice on the phone stirred something within.
Washing dishes on that hot August day…
It seemed a new chapter was to begin.

My heart began to thaw, frozen to warm.
My soul awakened when you smiled at me.
You vowed to shelter me within your arms…
Sealed with a kiss, I was finally free.

Upon us all a little rain must fall…
Before the dawn of true love comes to call.

Hi everyone! Hope you’re having a great weekend. Ours is going pretty well. And even better, tomorrow is Vince’s 41st birthday, can you believe it? I’m looking forward to FaceTiming with him tomorrow, and to see little Anthony open up his birthday gifts that I just sent. They recently got home from their NY trip where they vacationed during his July 27 birthday.

And don’t fall over – last night we actually WENT OUT, with friends even! On a Friday night haha! We went to Happy Hour at this newly renovated hip spot “The Burg” in downtown Leesburg. We had drinks and appetizers in The Speakeasy, a cool velvety underground bar that had a 20’s vibe. Then we walked around town a bit before going home. Today we grabbed a few hours at the pool, but there was a thunderstorm that came up around 3, so we left…. only for it to just thunder a few times, absolutely no rain. Haha, our bad luck. But we ended up getting our grocery shopping out of the way tonight when the supermarket was empty, which is always a plus.

This is a little Shakespearean sonnet dedicated to how one chapter in your life closes, and you never know how WONDERFUL that next chapter is going to be. You just have to let go and let God. This poem was most definitely inspired by “The Rain Song” by Led Zeppelin and my all time favorite rock singer Robert Plant. It is their most beautiful song, so soulful and beautiful. That line is so incredibly true… “Upon us all, a little rain must fall.” I just love it.

And I love you all….thank you for stopping by to read! Xoxo

Love, Colleen
